On June 5th, 2024, the book launch ceremony for “Indexing and Citation Metrics for Kurdish Academic Writing,” authored by Dr. Bakhtiar Sadjadi and sponsored by Vision Education, was held in Erbil.
The event was attended by H.E. Idris Nechirvan Barzani, Chairman of Vision Education, accompanied by government officials, prominent writers, and language experts.
Dr. Bakhtiar Sadjadi, a dedicated member of the Kurdish Language Scientific Forum and a lecturer at Kurdistan University of Sanandaj (Sine), highlighted the book’s significance as a major stride in overcoming the challenges faced by Kurdish scientific researchers and academic writers. He stressed the importance of further enhancing the Kurdish language to align with the standards of international academic research centers.
In his remarks, Dr. Bakhtiar Sadjadi expressed gratitude to Vision Education, acknowledging its substantial contribution to improving the education sector in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He noted that Vision Education embodies an extension of the vision of H.E. President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani.
Addressing the gathering, Sara Salahaddin Mustafa, CEO of Vision Education, emphasized that the publication shapes a new era for the Kurdish language, aimed at elevating its international academic standing.
She underscored that by promoting the language, they not only preserve their rich history but also strengthen their sense of unity and responsibility.
The ceremony also featured a panel organized by Professor Dr. Abdulrahman Adak, the editor-in-chief of the academic Kurdish journal at the University of Mardin, Professor Dr. Aziz Barzinji, a highly cited author and lecturer at the University of Soran, and Professor Mohsen Ahmed, a prominent member of the Kurdish academy.
During the panel discussion, data and statistics on the state of academic research in universities within the Kurdistan Region were presented, highlighting the challenges faced by Kurdish scientists and scholars in publishing their research in international journals and academic forums in their native language.
The book “Indexing and Citation Metrics for Kurdish Academic Writing” serves as a guide and encouragement for Kurdish researchers to enhance the quality of their scientific research and academic writing to meet international standards.
